The government has told the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) to expand Sost Dry Port and turn it into an important export hub. This step aims to improve Pakistan’s trade links with China and Central Asia.
This decision was made by Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal during a National Logistics Board meeting on Tuesday.
During the meeting, officials shared that NLC has improved trade connections, created more export opportunities for Pakistani products, and helped build international trade routes.
They also said that new transit trade centres in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and China will boost regional trade and give Pakistan better access to global markets.
The board discussed new projects to improve logistics systems, support agriculture growth, and increase exports.
Ahsan Iqbal said that Sost Dry Port should become a key logistics gateway to increase exports and strengthen regional trade. He also suggested setting up an international-level driving academy to train skilled drivers for global standards.
He added that trainees should also learn foreign languages to better communicate with international partners, especially under CPEC.
The minister explained that logistics is now very important for the economy, including trade, supply chains, national security, and development. Countries with modern transport systems and better logistics can reduce costs and deliver goods faster.
He stressed that upgrading Pakistan’s logistics system is very important for economic growth, exports, and regional connectivity under the Uraan Pakistan initiative.
Finally, he praised NLC’s performance and its role in improving Pakistan’s transport and logistics sector.
