Parents across Pakistan can now apply to register their child’s birth from home through NADRA’s Pak ID mobile app, reducing the need for repeated visits to local registration offices.
The service is available through the app’s Provincial Civil Registration Services section, which connects applicants with the relevant Union Council, Municipal Committee, Town Committee, or participating local registration authority.
NADRA lists birth registration among the civil registration services accessible through Pak ID. The platform also offers online payment facilities and digital document services, allowing users to complete several steps directly from their smartphones.
Download and Sign In to the Pak ID App
Parents should begin by downloading the official NADRA Pak ID mobile application on their smartphones.
First-time users must create an account and complete the registration requirements. Those who already have an account can sign in using their existing credentials.
The app is available for Android and iOS devices, giving citizens access to supported identity and registration services without having to visit an office for every step.
Open the Provincial Civil Registration Services Section
After signing in, applicants should navigate to the Provincial Civil Registration Services section.
They must select the appropriate province and choose the Birth Registration option from the available services.
The application may display children already associated with the applicant’s family record. Parents should select the child whose birth they intend to register.
If the child’s name does not appear, they can choose the option indicating that the child is not listed and proceed according to the instructions provided.
Choose the District, Tehsil and Union Council
The next stage requires applicants to identify the local authority responsible for registering the birth.
Parents should select the correct district, tehsil, and Union Council or another applicable registration authority from the available options.
They may also need to specify the application category and enter the child’s date of birth.
Providing accurate information helps direct the application to the appropriate authority for processing.
Check the Birth Registration Fee
Before completing the application, parents can use the app’s Calculate Fee option to determine the applicable charges.
The amount may differ according to provincial regulations, registration category, and the timing of the application. Applicants should therefore rely on the fee displayed for their particular case rather than assume that one fixed rate applies throughout Pakistan.
After reviewing the amount, they can select Start Application to continue.
Enter the Child’s Personal Information
Applicants must then provide the information requested about the child.
If the child’s details are already available in NADRA’s records, parents may select the relevant option and enter the child’s B-Form or identity document number, where applicable. The system may retrieve the available information automatically.
Parents should carefully review the retrieved details and fill in any additional fields requested by the application.
If the child is not already present in the records, applicants can select the alternative option and manually enter the required information.
Provide the Parents’ Details
The app will next display the Parent Details section.
Applicants must enter the requested information about the child’s parents and ensure that it matches their official identity documents.
Correct information is important for verification and for linking the child’s birth record with the appropriate family records.
Complete the Additional Family and Birth Information
Depending on the application, parents may also need to provide further details about family members and the circumstances of the birth.
Applicants should complete all mandatory fields displayed on the screen before proceeding.
They should carefully check the information entered at this stage, as incorrect or inconsistent details may delay verification by the relevant registration authority.
Photograph and Biometric Requirements Based on Age
The identity requirements for children vary according to age and the type of registration being requested.
Under NADRA’s stated child-registration requirements:
- Children under 3 years: Fingerprints are not required.
- Children aged 3 to 10 years: A photograph and iris information may be required for the applicable child identity registration process.
- Children aged 10 to 18 years: A photograph, fingerprints, and iris information may be required for the relevant identity registration process.
The specific steps shown in the birth-registration workflow may differ from those required for a B-Form or other child identity document. Parents should follow the instructions displayed in the app for their child’s age and application type.
How to Take the Child’s Photograph
If a photograph is required, parents should select Capture Photo in the application.
The app may allow them to use either the front-facing or rear-facing smartphone camera.
They should position the child’s face within the on-screen guide, ensure that the image is clear, and confirm the photograph before saving it.
NADRA’s Pak ID platform supports digital photo capture for applicable identity services.
How to Complete Fingerprint Scanning
When fingerprints are required, the app will display the relevant Capture Fingerprints section.
Applicants should select Start Scan and follow the on-screen instructions to capture the required fingerprints.
Parents must complete all biometric steps requested by the application before continuing. Fingerprint requirements depend on the child’s age and the particular service being requested.
Select the Address for the Birth Certificate
Applicants will then be asked to select the address to be recorded on the child’s birth certificate.
Depending on the options displayed, parents may choose the permanent or current address.
They should verify the selected address before moving forward to ensure that the civil registration record contains the correct information.
Pay the Birth Registration Fee Online
After completing the required details, applicants can proceed to the payment section.
NADRA’s Pak ID platform supports several digital payment options, including credit and debit cards, Raast, JazzCash, Easypaisa, and e-Sahulat, subject to availability for the particular service.
Parents should select one of the payment methods offered in their application, complete the transaction, and follow the instructions to continue.
Review the Application Before Submission
Before submitting the form, applicants should open Review Your Data and check all the information entered.
They should verify the child’s name, date of birth, parents’ details, address, and any other required information.
Once everything has been checked, parents can accept the necessary declarations and select Submit.
A confirmation message should appear after the application has been successfully submitted. Applicants should keep any application reference or confirmation details provided by the app.
What Happens After Submission?
Following submission, the application is processed through the relevant civil registration system and referred to the appropriate authority according to the applicable procedures.
The responsible Union Council or other local registration body handles the birth registration in accordance with the relevant provincial and local rules.
NADRA’s Civil Registration Management System supports the recording of vital events, including births, through thousands of Union Councils and other local registration authorities across Pakistan.
Processing times and any additional verification requirements may vary depending on the location and individual application.
How to Download the Birth Certificate
Once the registration has been processed and the certificate is available digitally, applicants can check the Applications section of the Pak ID app.
They can open the relevant application and use the available download option to retrieve the certificate, following the instructions shown in the app.
According to NADRA’s instructional process, the certificate may also be made available through the user’s ID Vault, a digital facility for storing and accessing supported official documents.
Parents should remember that registration fees, required documents, processing times, and eligibility conditions can vary by province and local authority. They should follow the current instructions provided in the official Pak ID app and contact the relevant registration authority if further verification is required.
