Punjab Launches First Mobile X-Ray Service for Wildlife

The Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department has introduced the province’s first portable X-ray service for wildlife, marking a major step forward in animal healthcare.

This new facility is now available at the wildlife hospital in Safari Zoo, where veterinary teams can examine injured or sick animals on the spot without needing to move them elsewhere.

Officials shared that the machine has already been used successfully to check a deer and a python, showing its effectiveness for different types of wildlife.

With this service, there will be less need to transport animals to distant hospitals, which helps reduce stress and risk for already injured creatures. It also saves valuable time during emergencies.

Experts believe this innovation will lead to faster and more accurate diagnosis, allowing vets to start treatment immediately and improve recovery chances.

In the future, authorities plan to expand such facilities to other wildlife centers across Punjab, ensuring better care for animals in different regions.

This step is also expected to strengthen wildlife conservation efforts, as quicker medical response can help protect rare and endangered species.
