Pakistan’s net foreign direct investment (FDI) increased by 80% year-on-year (YoY) to $316 million in August 2026, based on State Bank of Pakistan data compiled by Topline Securities.
Compared with $179 million in July 2026, net FDI in August recorded a 77% month-on-month (MoM) rise. As a result, Pakistan’s net FDI for the first two months of FY27 reached $495 million, showing a 24% increase YoY.
On August 7, Pakistan signed a strategic defense agreement with Saudi Arabia, which contributed to stronger remittance channels and supported investment activity.
During August, the power and financial sectors attracted the largest foreign investment inflows.
By country, China, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were the leading sources of net FDI into Pakistan during the month.
