Zong, a leading technology company in Pakistan, has partnered with ISP Environmental Solutions (ISPES) to introduce PecoDrop, a smart waste management system described as Pakistan’s first of its kind.
The new smart recycling stations will be installed at Zong offices and facilities. They will help employees separate plastic, paper, and metal waste at the point where it is thrown away. This can help increase recycling and reduce recyclable waste going to landfills.
A key feature of PecoDrop is its digital waste tracking system. It records information such as what materials are deposited, how much waste is collected, and where it goes for recovery. This allows Zong to track the recycling process more clearly and measure its environmental impact.
The system will also encourage employees to recycle through a digital rewards program. Employees can earn Credits for depositing recyclable materials, check their recycling contributions, and redeem rewards. The goal is to make recycling easy, engaging, and measurable.
Zong’s Head of Strategy and Company Spokesperson, Nabila Yazdani, said the initiative shows how technology, data, and employee participation can work together to create a smarter waste management system. She added that technology can be used not only for connectivity but also to support sustainable operations and responsible use of resources.
Dr. Zillay Maryam, CEO of ISPES, said the project is about more than simply providing waste collection points. According to her, the system helps separate waste from the moment it is discarded, making it easier to recover and recycle useful materials.
The partnership is being launched alongside World Cleanup Day and reflects Zong’s effort to make sustainability an everyday workplace practice rather than an occasional activity. Through technology, data, employee participation, and recycling, the company aims to reduce waste and support a more sustainable future.
