Punjab Introduces Green Property Certificates in 20 Districts

The Punjab government has launched Green Property Certificates in 20 districts as part of a major land record reform to make property ownership clearer, safer, and tamper-proof. The initiative aims to modernize land administration and reduce long-standing issues related to disputes and fraud.

The digital certification system is already active in Sialkot, Multan, Sahiwal, and Jhelum, with Rawalpindi, Okara, Khushab, and several other districts included in the first phase. The government plans to expand the scheme in stages until it covers the entire province.

According to the Punjab Land Records Authority, the certificate will officially define a plot’s boundaries and serve as government-verified proof of ownership. Officials say this will help protect genuine owners, discourage forgery, and bring greater transparency to property transactions.

The Authority’s Director General described the move as a key step toward reforming Punjab’s land record system, adding that it will boost public confidence in buying and selling property and support a more reliable real estate market across the province.
