Xiaomi has introduced its latest humanoid robot, Tieda, at the 2026 World Robot Conference, after testing it for four months in a real electric vehicle factory.
The robot is about 1.70 meters tall, weighs 66kg, and has 66 movable joints, with 33 located in its hands to help it perform detailed tasks.
Robot Shows Better Factory Performance
During testing, Tieda’s accuracy in installing self-tapping nuts increased from 90.2% to 98%. This is only 1% below the 99% success rate expected from human workers.
It also achieved a 90% success rate when sorting vehicle center-console panels and handling material recycling bins.
The robot previously worked continuously for three hours while completing tasks within the factory’s 76-second production cycle.
Xiaomi says Tieda can handle difficult tasks involving large, flexible and irregular parts, while making movements independently instead of simply following pre-programmed instructions.
Advanced AI Behind the Robot
Tieda uses Xiaomi’s robotics AI technology, including Xiaomi-Robotics-0, a 4.7-billion-parameter Vision-Language-Action model designed to help robots understand their surroundings and perform actions in real time.
Xiaomi has also introduced Xiaomi-Robotics-U0, a 38-billion-parameter AI model designed to support robot training and embodied AI development.
Xiaomi Expands AI and Robotics Investment
Xiaomi is investing heavily in AI, robotics and electric vehicles. The company spent around 9.2 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) on R&D during Q2 2026, up 18.9% year-on-year.
Nearly 47.2% of Xiaomi’s workforce is now involved in R&D.
However, Tieda is not being sold to consumers yet. Xiaomi says the robot is still in the prototype and testing stage, with current efforts focused on smart factories and future Human × Car × Home applications.
For now, Xiaomi is focused on making factories more efficient while developing more capable humanoid robots for the future.
