All public and private schools, colleges, and universities in Peshawar will remain closed on Monday, October 12, following an official directive issued by the Deputy Commissioner on Sunday.
According to a notification from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Peshawar, all educational institutions across the district have been directed to suspend academic activities for the day.
The notification, dated October 11, was signed by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Muhammad Daud Saleemi. Copies were circulated to relevant government departments, police officials, education authorities, and administrators of public and private institutions to ensure compliance.
The closure applies to all public and private educational institutions within Peshawar district. However, the official notification did not mention any specific reason for the decision.
The announcement comes amid significant political and security developments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On Sunday, October 11, the federal government announced emergency measures and governor’s rule in the province following President Asif Ali Zardari’s approval of recommendations submitted by the federal cabinet.
The measures were taken under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution, amid growing security concerns and disagreements between the federal and provincial governments over counterterrorism efforts.
