Punjab Implements Section 144 Restrictions for Eid

To ensure public safety and order during Eid-ul-Adha, Punjab has barred unregistered groups from collecting sacrificial skins and has enforced tight controls on public gatherings.
The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 across the province ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, with the Home Department issuing strict directives aimed at maintaining public safety and protecting the environment.

Under the new restrictions, banned organizations are strictly prohibited from collecting sacrificial animal skins. Only groups registered with the Punjab Charity Commission will be permitted to receive hides during the Eid period.

The directive also forbids several public activities, including the burning of sacrificial remains in open areas and recreational activities such as swimming, bathing, or boating in rivers, canals, lakes, and dams. Additionally, the disposal of animal waste, including dung, into manholes, drains, or canals has been banned to prevent environmental hazards.

Authorities have also cracked down on unauthorized livestock sales, prohibiting the buying and selling of sacrificial animals outside designated and approved cattle markets.

Section 144 will further apply to the public display of weapons and ammunition. These regulations will remain in effect from Thursday, June 5, through Wednesday, June 11.
