According to early estimates, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) may be reduced by Rs. 3.13 per litre, while petrol could see only a small cut of up to 61 paisas per litre or remain unchanged. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will send its price summary to the government on August 31, based on international oil market trends and industry data. Oil marketing companies have already submitted their calculations to OGRA. The Ministry of Finance, after reviewing the proposal with the prime minister, will make the final decision on the new rates.
Earlier, the government had slashed the price of HSD by Rs. 12.84 per litre, bringing it down to Rs. 272.99, while keeping petrol unchanged at Rs. 264.61 per litre.
