The Motorway Police (MP) announced the closure of several sections of the motorway on Wednesday morning due to dense fog reducing visibility. The affected routes include the M2 from Lahore to Hiran Minar and Lahore to Jaranwala in Punjab, as well as the M1 from Peshawar to Rashakai in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). These closures will remain in place until further notice.
Motorway Police urged the public to avoid non-essential travel during foggy conditions. For those who must travel, they recommended driving during daylight hours, preferably between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., when visibility is better.
Drivers are advised to use both front and rear lights, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and remain alert while driving. In case of emergencies, motorists can contact the Motorway Police through their helpline at 130.
