Due to worsening smog conditions, the Punjab government has ordered the closure of schools and colleges in Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Sahiwal divisions from November 13 to 17. This affects all educational institutions, including nurseries, schools, and academies. Similar closures in Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, and Faisalabad divisions continue as part of the government’s efforts to mitigate health risks associated with the severe air pollution.
In response to severe pollution, Lahore’s district administration has imposed additional restrictions from November 11 to 17. Outdoor activities, including sports and dining, are banned to reduce exposure to smog, though religious gatherings are exempt. Shops, markets, and malls will close by 8 PM, with exceptions for essential services like medical stores, labs, and grocery outlets.
