Winter vacations for schools in Punjab officially ended on Friday, January 10. Despite the official end of the holidays, rumors about an extension caused confusion among students and parents. Social media and WhatsApp were flooded with claims that the break had been extended until January 18, 2025, because of the ongoing cold weather.
Khalid Nazir Watoo, Punjab’s Secretary of Education, addressed the false reports, firmly denying any holiday extension. In an official statement, Watoo confirmed that schools would reopen on January 13, 2025, as planned. He emphasized the importance of trusting official sources for updates and urged parents to disregard unverified claims circulating online.
‘Any announcements regarding school holidays or schedule changes will be shared through the verified social media accounts of the School Education Department Punjab,’ Watoo stated.
The Education Secretary’s clarification seeks to clear up any confusion and prevent the spread of misinformation, reminding the public to rely solely on the department’s official communication channels for accurate and trustworthy updates.
