Neelum-Jhelum Dam Hit During Indian Attack

Pakistan’s military has confirmed that the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project sustained damage during recent Indian strikes. In a media briefing, ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry reported that the dam was among the targets of India’s unprovoked attacks carried out during the night of May 6–7.
Amid the attacks, the ISPR chief raised concerns about India’s intent, questioning whether the strikes were deliberately aimed at undermining Pakistan’s water infrastructure. He also highlighted the potential violation of international law and the laws of armed conflict in targeting such facilities.

According to the ISPR, the assault on the Neelum-Jhelum dam was part of a coordinated attack on six different sites. Among them were places of worship in Ahmedpur East and Muridke, where multiple casualties were reported, including women and children.

Five additional civilians, including a child, were killed due to Indian firing along the Line of Control (LoC). Meanwhile, attacks in Sialkot and Shakargarh resulted in no casualties or property damage. The ISPR chief strongly condemned the targeting of critical infrastructure and civilian areas, describing it as a breach of international norms and humanitarian principles.
