The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new policy that changes the process of obtaining passports for children in Pakistan.
Old B-Form No Longer Accepted:The traditional B-Form will no longer be valid for passport applications.
Child Registration Certificate (CRC) Required:Parents must now obtain a new CRC for their children to apply for a passport.
Focus on Verified Identity:NADRA states the policy aims to provide each child with a secure and verified identity, improving data reliability and national record accuracy.
In another major policy shift, NADRA has officially granted legal status to the Family Registration Certificate (FRC).
FRC Now Legally Recognized:The FRC can now be used in inheritance matters, court proceedings, and other legal affairs.
Previously for Records Only:It was earlier used mainly for identification or documentation, but it now holds legal authority.
Updated Format Introduced:NADRA has also revamped the FRC format to reflect varied family structures, making it more inclusive and practical for legal use.
