Monsoon System Expected to Reach Karachi by July 15

  • Karachi witnessed hot and sunny conditions on Saturday, but partial sea breeze returned, slightly easing the heat.
  • Sea winds expected to normalize by Sunday, possibly bringing light drizzles in the morning and at night.
  • A new monsoon spell is forecast from July 15 to 17 in Karachi, with light rain, gusty winds, and thunderstorms expected.
  • Sindh districts including Tharparkar, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Hyderabad may receive moderate rainfall with breaks in the same period.
  • The Met Office reports moist currents entering the country, set to intensify by July 13. A westerly system is also expected to arrive by Sunday evening (July 13), triggering widespread rainfall.

Weather Warnings (July 13–16)

  • Heavy to very heavy rain with wind and thunderstorms likely in southern and northeastern Balochistan.
  • Risk of flash floods in hilly streams, nullahs, and urban drains across:
    • Murree, Galliyat, KP cities (Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, etc.), Islamabad, Rawalpindi, DG Khan, parts of Punjab, Balochistan & Kashmir.
  • High risk of landslides in KP, Murree, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan due to persistent rain.
  • Urban flooding possible in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera, and Peshawar.
