The Ministry of Interior has directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to shut down mobile phone and internet services. According to PTA sources, the directive was communicated through an official letter issued just yesterday.
This puts to rest a previous report from the PTA chairman claiming that there have been no orders to shut down mobile services and internet amid PTI’s protests. Now, according to PTA’s sources, it has been confirmed that the Interior Ministry has sent orders for internet suspension.
This contradicts an earlier statement by the PTA chairman, who claimed that no orders had been issued to suspend mobile and internet services amidst PTI’s protests. However, PTA sources have now confirmed that the Interior Ministry has officially directed the suspension of internet services.
