Government Announces Holiday Across 14 Districts

The Sindh government has declared Wednesday, September 24, a public holiday in 14 districts of the province due to the upcoming local government by-elections.

As stated in the official notification, all government offices and institutions in these districts will remain closed on polling day to ensure voters can cast their ballots with ease. The districts where the holiday will apply are Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and Matiari.

Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Dadu, Badin, Thatta, Karachi West, Karachi East, and Keamari are also included in the list.

To maintain peace during the elections, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has requested the deployment of Sindh Rangers. A letter has been sent to the federal interior ministry, asking for Rangers to be stationed at polling stations marked as “most sensitive” in Karachi East, Karachi West, Keamari, and Umerkot.
