Champions Trophy 2025: India has officially declined to visit Pakistan for the tournament

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially declined to send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, citing persistent security concerns. Sources indicate that the BCCI has informed the ICC of its decision and has requested that India’s matches be shifted to Dubai, aligning with longstanding reservations about playing in Pakistan.

The ICC Champions Trophy will return in 2025 after an eight-year break, with Pakistan selected as the host for its first major ICC event since the 1996 World Cup. However, India’s participation remains uncertain. A BCCI representative commented, stating that India’s stance on not traveling to Pakistan for security reasons remains unchanged. They confirmed a formal request to the ICC and PCB to shift India’s matches to Dubai. This decision underscores longstanding security concerns affecting Indo-Pak cricket relations.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not officially responded to the BCCI’s recent request to relocate India’s 2025 Champions Trophy matches to Dubai due to security concerns. Although PCB has previously presented multiple solutions to the ICC and BCCI to address this issue, all previous proposals were rejected. The PCB may consider adjustments if necessary, but the matter remains unresolved, and PCB’s next steps are yet to be seen.
