Meta is allegedly going to conclude a massive agreement with Anthropic, under which it would be able to lease its AI computing power. The contract is going to amount up to $10 billion for two years, but at the moment, everything is just at the discussion stage.
The point is that Anthropic requires colossal amounts of computing power in order to train its highly sophisticated AI models like Claude. That is why the company is looking for a reliable data center capacity provider, and Meta might become an excellent choice.
This agreement will bring additional profits to Meta as well. Indeed, Meta has already invested in creating AI data centers with highly developed hardware, and now it has an opportunity to rent out its capacities, thereby entering the highly demanded market of the AI cloud services with extremely high demands on GPU computing power.
Such a development in the relations between Meta and Anthropic is not something that is unique to this particular case. Indeed, recently such companies as Google, SpaceX, and OpenAI have also been investing a lot into the AI infrastructure.
It seems that Meta is trying to keep up with the leaders of the industry and develop
