Punjab is expected to receive 25% more rainfall than usual this monsoon, according to PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia. The PDMA has warned that this rise in rainfall could affect several areas, and authorities have been put on high alert.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain in Karachi starting Friday, June 27, which is expected to break the city’s long spell of intense heat and humidity.
Monsoon rains have started in Punjab and will continue until July 1, bringing strong winds, thunderstorms, and heavy rain across many areas, confirmed by the PDMA.
Emergency services like Rescue 1122 and WASA are on alert, and all district authorities have been instructed to stay prepared. Rain is expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and other districts, while Southern Punjab (Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan) will see rains between June 26–28.
The PDMA has warned residents to be cautious, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay alert for possible landslides in hilly areas. In an emergency, call the PDMA helpline at 1129.
